Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs

The treasures of Tutankhamun have returned to Britain after 35 years. More than 130 treasure from the tomb of the Boy King are on display at London's 02 now until 30 August 2008. We take a look at the history of Tutankhamun.

The exhibtion

Tutankhamun last came to Britain in 1972 when over 1.7 million people queued for up to eight hours a day outside the British Museum. This exhibition includes 50 items from the tomb itself, including the royal diadem - the golden crown encircling the head of the mummified body and one of the minature coffins that contained his internal organs.


More than 70 objects from other royal graves the Valley of the Kings from 1555BC - 1305BC will also be showcased.

The exhibition also features multi-media elements including the 3D scan of Tutankhamun's body plus original footage of Carter discovering the treasures of the tomb.

 

Ticket details

  • Adults: £15 (Friday-Sunday: £ 20)

  • Children ages 5-15: £ 7.50 (Friday-Sunday; £ 10)

  • Concessions £ 12.50 (Friday-Sunday: £16)

  • Family (2 adults, 2 children); £45 (Friday-Sunday;£50).

  • Tickets are timed and admission is 10am to 7pm. Due to the high demand, advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. For more information and to book tickets, or call: 0844 844 003.


    Over 325,000 tickets have already been sold.
    At least 50 percent of all ticket sales go towards the building of a new museum in Egypt and to the restoration and preservation of the artefacts and mummies.
